Lavaland is also seismically active (which is rather obvious considering that it has LAVA in its name), and will have tremors every once in a while. You receive a 10 second warning before they occur, but they don't really do much other than shake your screen a whole lot and trigger some lurching movements from your character. Rarely, full-blown, more powerful earthquakes will occur, which will knock your character down onto the ground. Both tremors and earthquakes will trigger acid geysers.
The final threat are chasms, these are rare but extremely deadly and hard to spot. Walking into one will instantly kill you as you fall to your death! Watch your step.

Acid geysers are dormant until a tremor or an earthquake occurs. When triggered, they will release corrosive sulphuric acid smoke which deals burn damage.
Gases and Pressure
Lavaland has a random gas mix every round, requiring you to use internals. The pressure is low enough to give you a pressure warning HUD icon, but it's not low enough to deal actual pressure damage. The temperature is random as well but stays in levels safe for humans. Lavaland gasses can be mined if you have an RPD and set up scrubbers and set up an air alarm outside on a constructed wall, from there the scrubbers outside set up by you can be accessed via hacking the air alarm. Rare lavaland gasses can include Plasma, BZ, Miasma and Water Vapor. Common lavaland gasses include N2O or CO2.

Sentient Life
Lavaland is surprisingly full of other sentient lifeforms, of varying hostility.
Lavaland is surprisingly full of other sentient (read: playable) lifeforms, of varying hostility.

Ashwalkers: A tribe of hostile Lizardmen that worship the underground. They don't need to breathe but they can't use guns.

Lifebringers: A group of podmen who live in a seed vault with advanced hydroponics equipment.

Golems: A band of Golems who arrived by ship who live by their creed, of doing whatever.

Escaped Prisoners: Hardcore prisoners of Nanotrasen that survived a crash landing onto the planet. They'll do whatever it takes to survive.

Stranded hermits: Individuals who arrived by escape pod. They live in a makeshift shelter.

Beach bums: Humans who live in the shelter of a beach biodome.

Translocated Vet: A veterinarian who has somehow, along with his/her entire hospital, been teleported into a fiery hellscape
* Ashwalkers: A tribe of hostile Lizardmen that worship tendrils. Ashwalkers don't need to breathe but they can't use guns or wear shoes, so they use spears to try to fight off NT's miners.

Exile: You've been stranded in this godless prison of a planet for longer than you can remember. Each day you barely scrape by, and between the terrible conditions of your makeshift shelter, the hostile creatures, and the ash drakes swooping down from the cloudless skies, all you can wish for is the feel of soft grass between your toes and the fresh air of Earth.
* Lifebringers: A group of podmen who live in a seed vault equipped with advanced hydroponics equipment. This seed vault is, unfortunately, very well lit, and Podmen involuntarily eat light. As a result, these guys often get really fat unless they are actively running around doing botany, in which case you might find healing here, or bioweapons.

SuperFriend: You have been given a reprieve from your eternity of torment, to be [owner.name]'s friend for their short mortal coil. Be aware that if you do not live up to [owner.name]'s expectations, they can send you back to hell with a single thought. [owner.name]'s death will also return you to hell.
* Golems: A band of Golems who arrived by ship that live by their creed of doing whatever, because the original lavaland golem was told by his creator, "Yeah, go do whatever."

Timeless Prisoners: You are cursed. Years ago, you sacrificed the lives of your trusted friends and the humanity of yourself to reach the Wish Granter. Though you did so, it has come at a cost: your very body rejects the light, dooming you to wander endlessly in this horrible wasteland. There are 4 possible curses:
* Stranded hermits: Individuals who arrived by escape pod and live in a makeshift shelter. If they're found and taken up to the station, they'll probably get robusted by security for being escape-pod-using fucking cowards.

*You wished to kill, and kill you did. You've lost track of how many, but the spark of excitement that murder once held has winked out. You feel only regret.
* Beach bums: Dudebros who chill in a beach biodome. They have their own bartender.
*You wished for unending wealth, but no amount of money was worth this existence. Maybe charity might redeem your soul?
*You wished for power. Little good it did you, cast out of the light. You are the king of a hell that holds no subjects. You feel only remorse.
*You wished for immortality, even as your friends lay dying behind you. No matter how many times you cast yourself into the lava, you awaken in this room again within a few days. There is no escape.

Lavaland Syndicate: You are a syndicate agent, employed in a top secret research facility developing biological weapons. Unfortunately, your hated enemy, Nanotrasen, has begun mining in this sector. DON'T abandon the base without good cause. Do not let the base fall into enemy hands!
* Lavaland Syndicate: Syndicate agents operating a comms base on lavaland. Their base is literally a fully functional station on lavaland - they have their own cargo bay, bar, armory, <strike>warehouse of T4 parts</strike> science department, medbay, chemistry lab, and even a goddamn virology lab. The kicker is, they can fuck with the station's telecomms, remotely saying shit over radio/PDA message FOR people, until they get found by miners and <strike>looked at from a distance because the station can't figure out how to get over the lava moat</strike> raided by security officers.

"Hey, this isn't the asteroid!"

Lavaland is the new primary workplace for Shaft Miners, not to be confused with another dangerous plasma rich area. After exhausting all the hostile wildlife minerals on the asteroid, Nanotrasen scoured space around the station for a new source for that sweet, sweet Plasma. Unluckily for you, they found a young planet almost completely covered in lava and a host of deadly creatures. By that, we mean there are literal real fucking dragons roaming around. Did we mention the ash storms? There are ash storms as well. Don't forget to grab a bluespace shelter capsule. You're definitely gonna want one of those. Welcome to Lavaland.

Hazards

Lavaland is full of natural hazards. Ash Storms are the most prominent hazard, these storms occur on a regular basis and will deal constant and heavy burn damage to anyone unfortunate enough to be exposed to the storm, fortunately you will get a warning moments prior to a ash storm's arrival, giving you time to seek shelter.

Lava presents itself as the next most common hazard, walking into lava will deal massive burn damage to you. Even worse, the wildlife are immune to lava and can wade freely into it. However lava is very obvious and thus easy to avoid.

The final threat are chasms, these are rare but extremely deadly and hard to spot. Walking into one will instantly kill you as you fall to your death! Watch your step.

Gases and Pressure
